LipiTUM - Computational Systems Medicine on Lipids and Metabolism

"Our aim is to bring lipidomics to the playbook of systems medicine for the next generation of precision medicine."

About Us

"My group LipiTUM is part of the TUM School of Life Sciences located at the Wissenschaftszentrum Weihenstephan (WZW) in Freising, Germany. This project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts in the framework of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt). We are developing computational aids to bring the young and surging field of lipidomics to the playbook of systems medicine methods. The establishment of lipidomics and metabolomics as a third dimension in addition to genomics and proteomics is key to achieve precision medicine workflows that are targeted to and benefit groups of patients with common, distinct molecular signatures. This approach is not based on symptoms-based clinical anamneses but allows for novel molecular disease classifications and patient stratification as well as targeted treatment prediction."
